The King of Saxony abdicated on the phone.
When the German Republic was proclaimed in 1918, the King of Saxony, Friedrich August III, was asked by telephone whether he wanted to abdicate the throne. He said, “ Well, I think it’s better this way,” and voluntarily recanted. According to legend, after the abdication, he said: “Nu da machd doch eiern Drägg alleene!” (“Well, then take care of this shit yourself!”).
